Send in the Clowns!
You don’t have to go to the Big Top to enjoy the circus for your birthday! Host this clown party right in your own backyard.

This party planning guide brings all the fun of the circus to your party
with party games, activities crafts and treats.
For easy party planning, order your Party Supplies on-line.
Then, use this clown party guide to plan your party games, decorations and activities. We’re here to make party planning stress-free,
so you can actually enjoy your celebration!

CIRCUS CLOWN PARTY INVITATIONS
Make pretend tickets on your computer or
with cardstock paper.
“The Circus (or Carnival) is in town!”
Come celebrate _______’s Birthday…..”

DECORATIONS FOR YOUR CLOWN PARTY
For your Big Top Birthday Party, begin with plenty of balloons and streamers in primary colors – red, yellow and blue.
One reader suggests hanging a trapeze above the table.
Using paper towel tubes and streamers. A stuffed monkey makes for a cute trapeze artist! Circus posters on the walls and front door. Place stuffed animals all around.
CIRCUS OR CARNIVAL PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES
Any games will do. It’s a carnival party, have lots of fun and helpers available! Ring toss, Bean bag Toss, Horse shoes, Lawn Bowling, Hula Hoops, Obstacle course, Balloon Darts (older children only) Face painting, Water Balloon Toss, Relay races…let’s have fun!
Just as you would expect from any trip to the carnival, your guests will go home lots of prizes. To cut back on the cost of prizes try purchasing a big assortment bag of small prizes and candies.
Kit’s Tips:
Give each child a popcorn box at the beginning of the game time. They will be filled as they play. If you really want to go “all out” decorate game stations with paint, butcher paper, streamers and balloons.

Mouse Holes
You’ll need a cardboard box and three golf balls.
Cut 3 “mouse holes” on the box. Use a piece of Tape to mark the starting point. The children roll the balls and attempt to get them into the holes. I cut the holes in various sizes for different skill levels.

Lollipop Tree
You’ll Need several small prizes, lollipops and a Styrofoam ball. With 3 different colored markers, place a dot on the end of each lollipop stick and insert them into the Styrofoam ball.
Place prizes into 3 corresponding lunch bags. Red for red dots, Blue for blue dots etc. The players pick one lollipop and collects a prize from the corresponding prize bag.

Tin Can “Shoot”
The children use water guns to knock down empty frozen juice cans.
Cover the cans with construction paper and place them on a bench.

Fishing Game
Make fishing pole with a dowel, string, and clothes pin.
Place a “helper” behind a board or some other barrier to hide.
The children toss their fishing line over the divider and the helper clips a Prize onto their pole. Younger children Love this!

Duck Pond Game
Before the party:
Use a permanent marker to write numbers 1-3 on the underside of several rubber ducks. Select small prizes such as candy bars, stickers, candies, plastic animals, super balls etc.
Create three bags or boxes for the prizes and lable them with numbers 1-3 to correspond with the ducks. Place the prizes inside the boxes.
Float the ducks in a large container or in a wading pool.
To play:
A child selects s duck from the pond. They receive a prize from the box matching their number and then place the duck back in the pond.

Example…if they pick up a duck with the number “1″ they will select a prize from the box marked with a “1″.

Variation — this game can be more fun if you place a few special prize ducks in the pond (marked with a star). When the players find these ducks they receive a special prize. You can also have the children catch the ducks with a butterfly net.

Relay Races
Rolling hula hoops, carrying peanuts in spoons, holding balls in between
your knees or even three legged races are always popular with children
and easy to prepare. Consider your play space and the age of your
children when planning.

Clown Party Treats
Planning on serving a meal ? Keep children’s simple taste in mind.
Serve corndogs, popcorn, and sliced fruit either as a sit down meal or a quick break in between activities. Bake cupcakes in ice cream cones or serve ice cream cones with sprinkles!
